Imus is an idiot.
I just heard Neil Cauto on fox comment on it and he said Imus was making the point that blacks are targeted by the legal system. Well thats what Imus claimed he was saying but I just listened to the tape of it and if that is where he was going it sure doesn't come across on the tape.

Thats a good way to cover it up Imus! Blacks are targeted by the system. Would have been nice if he went on to say that point blank. Coming from him and his past comments and homo attacks and everything. The guy doesnt need to be on a mic or camera or anything.
Doubt no one hasnt hurt the guy yet!

Imus is a racist. I'm all for second chances, and perhaps on a private network with the freedom of speech he could say or believe whatever he wants. But he is on a publicly funded station (or was, not sure now after the whole basketball thing) and has to keep himself in check.
He's a racist, plain and simple. "what color was he?" - "black" - "well there ya go."
From what i've heard (haven't heard the entire thing), he didn't follow that up with an explanation. Anyone would be looked at as a racist in that light, especially Imus.

I listened to about 30 seconds beyond the comment and he hadn't added any context to it. Honestly even if in his mind he could have been thinking that is where he was going with it and just lost his train of though but my god, he doesn't get that he is under a microscope?

At first I was pretty hard on him about it, but in listening to Scott Van Pelt show on ESPN radio, I am starting to think it was a little more harmless, and a misunderstanding. I also saw a poll on ESPN that of 24,000 or so people that voted, more than 50% found neither Shaq nor Imus were offensive. This is probably getting played out too much.
Co-host Karith Foster, who is black, came to Imus' defense during Tuesday's broadcast, saying, "People who interpret what you said as racist clearly didn't hear the whole thing, and they don't know who you are and what the program is about -- and they obviously haven't been listening."

I hadn't heard of it before this...
I just read an article though (because of this post).
Oh...My...God...
This guy has issues way beyond just racial. To even ask what he did, wow..
I am shaking my head in disbelief.

It's possible that earlier in the show they were talking about the profiling stuff and this comment was a follow up. Seems a little odd that the station would not take any action considering the recent history.

he isn't racist. i dont even understand how it was interpreted as racist. all he said was that it was unfair to Pacman, because he was only arrested for being at these crime scenes, and being black was why he was arrested. he didnt say "Pacman jones is black, and all black people do crime" he basically said "i feel bad for Pacman because the law treats blacks less fairly than whites"

Lol, okay. Well either way I personally feel Imus is racist. You know why? Because if he knew part of Pacmans history he would know that it wasn't racial profiling that landed him in jail. He threatened a bouncer saying he was going to kill him that night, then had someone in his group shoot at the bouncer, which paralized him for life. While i believe he was aquitted of these charges, its not like this guy was being picked up on the way home from Sunday school for having a broken tail light. He hung around rough crowds, and from what i've read he's been in some legitimate trouble.
With that said, to try and defend his comment w/ "i was defending him because he is being racially profied" is rediculous. Since 2005...
July 13, 2005- Arrested and charged with assault and felony vandalism after a nightclub altercation. This began Pacman Jones NFL rap sheet. He already had a lengthy one from high school and college.
September 5, 2005- Adam was invited to attend the Nashville Sports Council Kickoff Luncheon. Jones went off on a verbal tirade while being told to wait for his car after the event. He then refused to tip the valet service.
October 2005- State of West Virginia filed a petition stating that Jones had not been contacting his probation officer and that he had not reported his July 2005 arrest. The judge extended the probation for just 90 days.
March 23, 2006- Charged with marijuana possession in Fayetteville, Georgia. He went on to claim that he knew how to beat the NFL’s drug test.
August 25, 2006- Arrested for disorderly conduct and public intoxication after being ordered by the cops to leave a Murfreesboro night club several times. Jones claimed a woman stole his wallet. The woman claimed that Jones spat on her. The judge in the case gave Pacman six months probation and told him to stay away from the club.
October 26, 2006- Jones was issued a citation for misdemeanor assault after a female student from Tennessee State University claimed that Jones spit in her face at a Nashville night club.
Feburary 19, 2007- The facts are disputed and no charges have been made yet, but Jones was in the middle of a fight and shooting at a strip club in Las Vegas that left one man paralyzed and two more wounded. The fight broke out after Jones showered strippers on stage with $81,000 dollars. The club owner claims Jones was beating a strippers head against the bar while claiming to kill one of the club’s employees.
January 3, 2008- Pacman is accused of punching Wanda S. Jackson in the face at an Atlanta strip club called the Body Tap Strip Club. Jackson says Jones reached over the counter and sucker punched her in her left eye.
The above time line doesn’t include his sentence of one year in prison for a bar fight in Morgantown, West Virginia while in college. The sentence was later suspended in exchange for two years of probation (because he is a really good football player).
Racial profiling? Really? Gonna play that card Imus? I have to call BS, sorry.

He's a hack that should have been put out to pasture ages ago.
That being said, yes, I do believe that he is racist.

I just looked into this because I really don't care one way or the other about his idiot. But I was a little puzzled by his "explanation" of what he said. I was thinking there was no profiling in Pacman getting arrested 6 times. Thanks for posting that Lex becaue it just proves that this idiot has no clue what he is talking about.
I think his explanation is actually worse than his initial remark.
