Any suggestions for lighting for a frag tank?

I am in the planning stages for a frag tank. Can anyone give me recommendations for lighting needs for a frag tank that will be mostly zoos and softies? PC vs T5 vs MH vs VHO I plan to try to find a relatively shallow tank to give me more area and less water for the lighting to go through. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I am guessing about 55 gal. I would rather go with more surface and shallower if I can find a suitable tank. 48" long is what I am looking for. I am flexible since I will build the base to match the size and style (acrylic or glass). I would like to find a used acrylic from a lfs instead of a display tank. Then I could plumb it however I wanted. If I can't find a shallow tank I will use the egg crate like you did to keep everything up high. Thanks for the link. Can I actually have too much light over a frag tank?
