What is the most lighting anyone has out there on there tank... Both number of fixtures and wattage.... I have personally seen MH up to 400 but see bulbs made up to 1000 anyone ever seen these on fish tanks...
And with the fixtures i was just wonder if people found advantages of having more fixtures I was thinking of adding 2 pendants to the MH Hood i already have

When I first really got into having corals, I seriously knew absolutley nothing (0) but got caught up in the whole newbie thing of "gota have bigger more powerful everything" So I jumped over to

[hr]
and bought a 1000w MH single bulb complete fixture.
This really was one of the more stupid things I did. More like it is.

First off, they have a history of blowing up and you have to wear lead linned clothing and full face protection, and spf of 216 so that you can work in the tank
Not to mention the powerbill and that were in Vegas, fried everything and had to start over....man was I not paying attention to what other people said, and they were right....Now I have to laugh about it......
Oh yeah, heres the kicker, it was over my 75g show tank

I have a single bulb 1,200 watt MH fixture I am retro fitting to 1000 watts for when i build my clam/SPS lagoon. its not currently in operation.
If your going for WPG I have 130W on a 10G. I'm sure there are people that have a higher WPG than that, I cant wait too see some insane lighting.
I wish I had a picture of wadley's 1200 gallon acryllic reef, the lighting on that is nuts (from memory so this may not be accurate) he has 10 2x250w mh fixture and 8x 440W VHO actinics along with 300 LED moonlights. I'll talk to my friend who set up the tank and maintains it to get more accurate info on the lighting. and to see if he has a picture.

Coralife makes a really nice and inexpenisve fixture thats 2x9w 6700k, search around and you can find them for $20-$25, this is the fixture that I use in all my fuges. It's pretty compact and I figure the price is right, easy to clean and install, my chaeto grows like crazy with this light. Jim

I've got 150W HQI on my 15 gallon. I switched out the 14K bulb to a 20K to tone it down a bit. I still think it's a bit much for my shrooms though.
But the stonies love it.
