Well I personally like the new interface and I agree with your perspective, to an extent. Yes, it's an XP interface, it was designed that way though so you wouldnt have compatibility issues with software like you would if they redesigned the entire system code up (i.e. Windows ME --> XP). Also, I don't think the price is
that unreasonable considering most people will be upgrading from XP which nearly cuts the price in half (around $99 speculated for the Basic Home Edition).
I don't know but I've been using it for a while and alot of the features I hated in XP, I love in Vista. Plus, the developers have been suprisingly responsive at fixing bugs and adding things users, such as myself, find helpful.
If nothing else, the GUI is freeking sweet!
