Anybody else out there like to make soup?

Another cold winter evening, and I am making a big pot, about 1.5 gallons, of soup. Working on the soup, and cleaning the fish tank (yes I wash my hands afterwards!), is a nice relaxing way to spend a Saturday night!
This pot will be a cream of chicken and potato soup and I will have a big bowl when it's done in about another hour, and then eat it all over the next few days. Of course, I have to give some to the dog who like most dogs will eat almost anything, but she seems to really like my soup.
What I like about making soup at home is that after a day or so of chilling and mellowing in the fridge, it tastes even better than the day I made it!
My office manager (21) gets a big kick out of her boss (me, 55) cooking all the time but I tell her, until I can buy soup and other food items that taste as good as I can make them, then I will keep on cooking!

I love to make French Onion soup from scratch. It's time consuming, but it is SO much better than anything I've ever had in a restaurant.

Homemade soup has to be one of my favorite foods. I made some turkey stock last night to use for other cooking. A few weeks ago I made a kicken' Esacarole, Bean and Sausage soup and my all time fav that I make is a Roasted Garlic and Butternut squash bisque.

I make a lot of soups and I agree with you there....the canned stuff sucks!! I'll stick to my homemade meatball soup, veggie soup, potato soup, etc.

There's a 4.5 lb. fryer in my stock pot right now! Some of the meat and stock will be going into tomorrow's Superbowl jambalaya, and the rest will probably be chicken noodle. Yum!

I was thinking about making a gumbo for tomorrows game and friends coming over, but it's too warm for soup out here.
I love soup though. So easy to make, throw whatever is in the frige and freezer into a pot and presto!
Mmmm, jambalaya that might be good for tomorrow too. I was going to BBQ some chicken but jambalaya is always good.

Spicy jambalaya, cold beer, good friends.....what a great day tomorrow should be.
