someone had a booth at a home show with these things. you have to keep them on you almost 24/7 for upwards of two weeks so they know you are a safe place for them.
i'd hate to find their droppings everywhere...

They tell you to take the guy out of your pocket every 3-4 hours and it will poop and pee on a piece of tissue.

Exactly
just hold them over a tissue and they do their business every couple of hours.
I know there sugar gliders but I wanted to be correct and look on the pocket pets website to see there actual name and it says sugar bears. Look under questions answered or something like that, they have a lot of info on them.
nobody has one!?!

I emailed pocket pets asking them how often they should be held during bonding and things like that and they said try for 2 hours a day so they become more friendly towards you. I think that the more time you spend with them in the beginig the more friendly they will be as they mature.
I was also worried about not being able to hold them daily when they got older but they said it wont be a problem to skip a day or two of interaction but even 10 min will do.

calm down its no big deal. I just thought it was the proper thing to call them. the website is called sugarBEARS.com and if you click on the link and scroll down a little it tells you information about them calling them sugar bears the whole time. The place is also USDA licsened so I thought they would be correct.
I agree that I have mostly heard sugar gliders most of the time but I thought I was saying the incorrect name. By the way wikepidiea info is not always right. Anybody in the world can post something on there and say its a fact, Im not saying the article is not correct Im saying the site in general.
If you would like I will call them sugar gliders, but IMO its no big deal. Im just looking for some info but thanks for telling me

Do you own any?

Yes I have had them in the past.
I am no expert but my experience with them is completly contrary to most of the ones I see other people own or write about.
Mine were playful and into mischief at night. They would bark like little dogs to get your attention when you come in the room. Slept most of the day. They each had different favorite foods. It was strange.
They were affectionate with people and to one another but did not like strangers at all. Got along well with the dogs.
One would do ANYTHING for peanuts. The others didnt care. One loved fresh granny smith apples, the others wouldn't touch it.
They do require time and attention or they become depressed and independent. They quickly go back to untrusting of people if not spent time with. Not overnight, but seems most people think they are cute. They get one, and then leave it stuck in a cage for weeks. Or only pull it out when people come over as a novelty. Sad but true, they need attention and a varied diet that takes some dedication.
When left like a hampster, most just get grossly overweight and listless. They dont play or act social when ignored.
I can only speak from my own experience but they are rather dull little pets. Not very intellegent, and not all they exiting. Cute as could be, but they have more requirements than people will tell you. They are NOT hampsters.
I already stated I am no expert on them but I went from completly ignorant about them when I started and became educated through first hand experience. So much of what is online is garbage. They do make good pets but require commitment beyond what most people can give.
I am sure others will chime in and disagree with everything I just said but please ask any questions you like.

Not sure I'd want to mail order an animal like that. I take it that they are probably pretty skittish to begin with and being shipped to your door probably isnt going to help that trait too much.
I actually found this site and it has some good info on the do's and donts of purchasing one of these animals.

Just from reading on a sugar glider website that sells them, they sell for $175 for the all grey ones and can go as high as $600 for the colorful ones...

im assuming your being sarcastic but its true they will. and it dosent have loyalty like a glider does.
pocket pets woont ship. they actually say to never get one thats been shipped or above a certain age. they come to your town with a booth like thing and tell you all about them and let you hold them and then you can buy one. i have no idea where they get them or when you get yours but the give it to you and meet you and things like that. it seems like the best orginization out there that sells them but i dont know. you need to email them and give them your phone number so they can call and tell you when they will be in town next.
