CHINCHILLA! well, maybe i am a little biased....
lol, but i dont think i could deal with the smell of a ferret, although you can get the gland or whatever removed by the vet, but they still have a smell. Chinchillas have no smell at all, unless you count the vanilla smell from the vanilla scented dust lol. A sugar glider migt be cute, but i think they are a little more rare/difficult? I dont really know, ive never even seen one personally.
I am really enjoying my chin!

My cat jack is just interested in him, but too lazy to actually pursue him. My other cat jill, has gotten into whereever he was running around twice and chased him but never caught him. Yesterday i put them both down in front of each other and she just wanted to sniff him and was actually a little frightened of him. He wasnt scared of her at all.

Man, it is easy to spend money on this thing! I went to Petsmart the other day originally just for some bedding. I ended up getting a can of mixed treats, a salt and mineral wheel with a clip, and a pack of fruit flavored wood things for him to chew on! So far he has used everything but the salt wheel, which i am little disappointed about. Too badi cant take him with me! I had to restrain myself from some drops that you put in their water for like, supplements on calcium and other things? It looked pretty cool. Also these cool little treats shaped like ice cream.
And i am going to have to buy a little igloo for him eventually because he chews on his house a lot, but thats ok.
One more question, almost every night he pulls the little metal wire thing off the holds the water bottle onto the cage and it falls to the floor. Is there anything i can do to prevent this?
Ok, last question i swear. Ok, you know how i got that free coupon for a vet checkup when i bought him? Well, i still havent used it. Im afraid that if i take him it will freak him out completely and then he will lose all his trust in me and i will have to start over from square one. Should i just go ahead and take him or what? He appears to be very healthy, eats, drinks, poops, thick fur, no bald spots, clear eyes. i havent looked at his teeth though....he bites lol
Im still glad that i bought him! He is so fun to watch, and it still cracks me up how they hop like a rabbit!
opps! sorry I didn't see the questions before anyway...
The vibratish thing, hmmm not sure about that, does he make a noise when he does it?
I will see if I find some info on it but I have never had one of my chins do it. Might just be a cute Harley only thing :joy:
Yes it is very easy to spend money on your chin
mine didn't like the salt thingie either, but Maddie loves those ice cream cones! With the stuff you put in the water, I have never used it. I don't think it would be bad to use but I am not sure if it is worth the money but hey if it isn't too much money give it a try, it couldn't hurt anything. The igloo works well, just make sure you still have lots of chew toys, toliet paper rolls are great and free!
With the water bottle, i doubt he will stop, it's too much fun! probably the best thing is to get a different water bottle. I have one like the pic below and it has a locking bracket and a flip top which is pretty cool, so you can refill it without removing the water bottle. I got mine at PetSmart and they do sell it on the website. It is made by All Living Things. Oh make sure that you are washing the water bottle once a week. I just take mine apart and run it in the dishwasher. I just remove the little rubber ring and I do not run it in the dishwasher, I just rinse it.
Don't worry about taking him to the vet, no sense in it unless you think there is something wrong with him. Unless you really, really want to have just an extra check. It shouldn't stress him out, he would probably just think is was an adventure. The only time I ever took my chin to the vet is when he got into a battle with one of my cats. Also, not all vets can treat chins, I have to take mine to an exotic vet clinic. So that vet may not even treat chins.
I hope everything is going well!!

interesting i really don't know about the vibrating, i haven't gotten a chance to research it yet but as long as you are sure you aren't holding him to tight i would say it is fine. how often does he do it?
hahahaha maybe he decided had enough with the water bottle, chins are goofy!

I had 12 chinchillas.. I bred them they are great little pets.. a room in my basement was totally devoted to them. I actually moved and couldnt keep the little guys, so I gave them away to my family members who all still have them. They are GREAT pets I really enjoyed keeping them, and I have had just about everything under the sun! I had a four cream chinchillas, five standard gray, two black ones, one albino... 4 pairs.. and their offspring.. 2 of the pairs would have babies once a year.. I really miss having them! I will see if I can dig up some photos!! My first one I got was a gray, and then I got him a cream mate and they had twins and the female passed away shortly after giving birth to them so I actually had to raise them on a bottle, they were my favorites because they were SO sweet and all they wanted were to be by me. I especially miss them but I do see them from time to time.

she is doing great, I picked her up some cripsy chews today and she is munching away at one right now. I am going to have to check out those wheels because Maddie makes a lot of noise running in her wheel at night!
