Anybody using an ASM mini G??

Good and bad reveiws please. It will go on a 46 bow front and I have a sump space of 9x7.5. I am limited to what I can get. Also I could re-do my whole sump, but really prefer not to. I am all DIY project'd out.

save for something else, like the octo. i think my asm would have worked fine if the pump wouldnt have failed, if they would have glued the body and neck correctly, and if the neck was threaded instead

Thanks for your post. So I take it you had a lot of problems with it. I was going to buy the Octopus until I found out it will not fit in my sump. My sump is too small due to the curved stand of the 46 bow front. Who knows maybe I'll just upgrade to a 125 and combine both my 46 and 75 into 1 tank. I like having 2 tanks though because one is in one direction and the other goes in another. They are very different and I like it. Who knows.

I have been running the ASM mini G on my 44 for a little over a year. It has been trouble free and skims very well..

While I am not running the mini G series. I am currently running three ASM skimmers for about two years without problem. I feel they are good 'in sump' skimmers. If you are considering a HOB for your sump you could consider the
Remora pro.

I am using one. Skims good when it works. Pump keeps shutting down. Trying to get a warrantee replacement now.

I just stumbles acrossed the Remora skimmers it seems people are very happy with them. Thanks for that idea.

Does anyone know the optimal water depth in the sump for the asm mini G? Just bought one and I'm not sure if I should make a small skimmer stand or not. I am using a 29g for the sump and I plan on having about 11 inches of water in the skimmer section....too deep? It is below the neck, but well above the pump.
