Anyone a Corvette Expert? 2007 Z06

Ok,
My 75 year old Dad is strongly considering buying a 2007 Z06 tomorrow. They are expensive, but fast. Are they worth it? I cringe at my Dad behind 505 HPs while dickering with a heads up display. Any thoughts welcomed.

why not? does he have any kind of disability that might affect his driving? i would let him. corvettes are awesome. as long as he can afford it and has no disability, then i see no reason why not.

His reactions are not what they used to be, it is a stick and he does have a bad eye but it is being fixed next month. I figure it will never see half of its possible 192 mph! I told him to go for it..........."that's why you work hard all of your life".
I am just wondering at that kind of money, is there a better American car out there?

Honestly I would be concerned unless your dad's name is Paul Newman. That is a wild ride for someone with good reaction times, let alone someone who is slowing down. If your pops reactions have slowed down you would be well served if you could talk him into a standard vette. He could trick it out nicely for a few extra grand looks wise.

I would be more concerned with him getting in and out of it. Older people have a hard time getting in and out of cars that sit real low......

I've had a corvette for a while and I agree with the getting in and out of it. You kind of fall into it and pull yourself out. Now they drive great and as long as you utilize the active handling and traction control system, they are pretty easy to manage. You can turn them off though and it gets real squirrelly on you. The new Z06 has a lot more horsepower than mine though but the same principle applies.
Now are they worth the price? The 2007 Z06 is probably the best sportcar value you can find. You won't find more performance for the dollar in any car.

My friend owns that very corvette. It is the first car I have ever driven, where I didn't feel in control during the drive. It has crazy power. I think he payed $82,000 for it. It felt like the rear end was going to slip out from me at any given time.
Why does it have to be American? You can get a BMW M3 or M5 for that kind of $$. BMW makes the safest cars out there, and they have sick power aswell.

But if that is what he wants, you probably won't change his mind. He has worked hard, now its time to reward himself. You only live once, right? Its a beautiful car. I think its the fastest car 0-60 in the world.

Have him test drive the cadillac xlr-v. Thats all I need to say. It's the sexiest machine ever made! Domestic that is. The Italian in me would get a masserati, but both are much classier for an older gentelman than a chevy!

you know, people work all their lives, thinking there is something good at the other end. lets face it. 75 is getting old, might as well let him have his fun rather than living the rest of his life thinking someone talked him out of his dream.
i would say let him buy it and go have some fun!

I am 3.5 hrs away in my car at 75 mph, he is 2.5 hrs away in his car at 125 mph. Believe me, I will ensure that he got his money's worth! test drove the 400 hp 07 and it was a rocket. He said this one is off the charts! He is so happy. The guilt has faded! He is probably sleeping in it right now. Everyone brags about their Dad's, but I have to say mine is tops! He does so much for so many people and never gets much in return. He was my best man in my wedding 19 years ago.

P.S. I am going to start the slow process of begging for it as a hand me down! Ya right!

Yes, a classic vette is a better investment. Will increse in value as a new one will just decrease in value. I'd rather invest my hard earned money is an asset that appreciates. All depends on what the interst is though.
I have three classics and just purchased a 69 GTX...can't wait till it arrives as it is being shipped. Nothing like driving a 60's classic muscle car IMO.

I would love to have a chevelle or cutlass convertable. Both would get more looks than a new vette but neither could keep up with 4th gear. He is so happy with the car. He hooked into a vette club already and is looking into advance driving classes. He did good when we went to the Richard Petty experience and had 8 laps at Charlotte Motor Speadway alone in a stock car.

P.S. Way nice cars from everyone!
