Anyone drilled any holes?

I was wondering any of you DYI Guys or girls have ever drilled any holes in glass? of so what do ya use and where do ya get the stuff at?

i used a Roto Zip bit for tile, Tilecut XBIT is what its called and i got it from home depot under $5. i know it says nothing about cutting glass on there web site but i tried it on some scrap glass and it worked great but it took about 15-20 mins to cut each hole in my 75. try it on some cheep glass if you try it and use lots of water to keep it cool. i cut 3 holes with it, 2 2 1/4 and 1 1 1/2 with just 2 bit and its still sharp. it was about 3/4 speed on my dremal.

I was just looking on the big aucrion site and saw some hole saws for glass. Like $8.50 shipped. That is for a 40 mm or 1.57 inch. Think I am going to get that. What do ya think?

I dont know about that but the rotozip works really good though. it's better than a diamond coated dremmel tool!

definitely go for the auction hole saw. I've drilled 1/2" glass for several 1" and 3/4" bulkheads with his hole saws! Way more accurate than a rotozip for a fraction of the price.

There was a thread a bit ago should be a couple days old and had bumped a previous thread to show the bits you can get at Harbor Freight cheaper than ---- to drill the holes......It's super easy to drill accurate holes if you can follow a pattern.....

The tile bit, by RotoZip, on a Dremmel (using a universal chuck) is the greatest hole cutting tool I've ever used, on glass. I can zip out 1.5" holes in under 3 min.
I had a thread up, quite a while ago, giving a step by step, very detailed picture thread to show how to go about doing this. The pics have since been removed from my PhotoBucket, but I'd gladly try to find them and repost, if anyone is interested.

I would make sure that the tank isnt tempered glass because if it is the enitre thing WILL shatter. So make sure its not
