Anyone Else Sick Of This?!?

Hey, I am writing this post to vent on something that I have seen an epidemic of on this site. Anytime a person wants to make an OT, they should have the right to, without not be chewed out. Here are a few examples of what I have seen. Read them or don't, but I have more to say after them. So please read it.

To those of you who are upset, mad about, or disgusted with the OTs, I say to you this. The boards are not only a way of learning more about SW, but learning more about the people that are in SW. If you don't wish to read an OT post, then it is your choice, that is the reason for the OT at the beginning of the post. The better we get to know the others on this board, the more sincere and true the advice seems to become. This is a simple way to talking to the others on the board, if you don't want to read it, don't.

how come slick started an off topic thread? i'm kinda tired of these games on here. i think people are intentionaly asking questions over and over. i realize there are alot of new members, but it seems there is alot of junk going on.
if any body has a question that is saltwater related, then post it. if someone can answer and help, they will.
let's not get into this off topic debate again. do a search and read the old posts on it. most of us have been there, done that.

I don't mind off-topic posts, I just don't read them. What pisses me off are: BB, LOL, ppl, thnx, gl (good luck), and other more difficult to decipher abbreviations. Why? Does it take that much time to write out the word thanks rather than thanx? It just took me about 3 times as long to type it incorrectly as it did to type the real English word. Okay, I'm finished.

that's just shorthand internet. makes it quicker to type. helps for people like me who have to type with a laptop (pia=pain in a$$)

There used to be a forum for these OT posts. It was called the Aquarium. Mods, why WAS the Aquarium removed? And the OT posts are kids stuff? Please. The majority of the people responding to the what do you do thread are in their 40's and 30's.

Demosthenes hey man if you would have read the rest of that post I apolagized for writing that post I was having a bad day when I wrote that. And people forgave me for that. You have no right to bring up things that people have said they are sorry for so don't do it. And Bryself I say the same to you. Now I don't know what else I can do. I have put replies on OT posts and have put up a few of my own. I was still new here when I posted that and have learned from it. In my opinion you are just as bad posting this as the people that complain about OT posts. Think about for a while. I have gotten some good replys from you 2 and by no means do I wish to pi$$ anyone off. Just stating the fact that I appologized for what I said and here it is being thrown back in my face.

you can always go back and delete your old post, or edit them.
i just hate debating on off topic subjects. we've all asked for a separate forum but the admins won't provide it. we have to learn to live with it or choose not to participate. i just don't want people to get bent out of shape over it. it's really not that big a deal.

This really isnt gonna get anywhere...OT posts are always gonna be around. If ya dont like the topic, DONT POST. IMO they add a little spice to the board, And let ya in on a members opinions other than reefing. Moral: "let it be, let it be, take some words of wisdom...LET IT BE"

I feel that as long as there is an OT at the beggining I am fine with it. I usallyt just skip over them. It only takes a sec.

OT posts have been discussed. At one time there was a forum for them...it has been removed and is not likely to return. I agree to a point that OT posts can be bothersome...but then I rarely read or respond to them. No matter what we do or how we approach the situation OT posts will continue.
Like this one has. I will now lock it because the tone approaches that of being a flame......which this board can definitely do without!As a board we try to provide the best place to discuss reef related topics(on this forum) and now and then personal issues/questions arise...but I personally believe that we should avoid intentionally creating a situation where flaming is accepted!!My advice...if you do not like the OT thread...avoid it!!! I do.......most of the time.
