Anyone ever gotten out of speeding ticket?

I got a speeding ticket on Tuesday. Was on the interstate heading up to a doctors appointment. Its about an hour 15 from where I live. They are doing road construction off and on the entire way. Got pulled over in a work zone. Didnt even see any signs for the speed limit reduction. Saw a sign for one lane traffic that would be coming up. Had three cars in front of me, we were all going the same speed, they may have been traveling a bit faster than me. I was going 66 (reg speed limit is 65) Apparently it had been reduced to 55 in this area. Trooper (not so super!) was a nice guy, but still ticketed me even though I explained I never say any signs posted for the reduced speed limit. My first speeding ticket, so bummed! $150.00. I talked to me about my right to appeal in court, ect, ect, so I'm going to try. I will prob. vomit all over the judge from being nervous. Anyone ever gotten out of a situation like this?

Re drive the route and see where the speed limit sign is. Probably be better off going to traffic school if your state has it.

i have gotten 5 speeding tickets in my day... but i have been let off with two warnings... and i also got off by appearing in court and the officer didnt show up... and i went to court to argue about the wording on a sign...
i was going through a school zone about 5:30 in the evening... the school zone sign says "SCHOOL ZONE 25 MPH WHEN CHILDREN ARE PRESENT"... obviously school was out, BUT there were kids on the sidewalk... appearently i am traveling at 37 mph and the officer pulls me over... he asked if i knew why he pulled me over... i said no i wasnt speeding and the traffic light was green... the officer said that i was doing 12 over the speed limit in a school zone... i said school is out so its 35... he said no there were children on the sidewalk so the speed limit is 25... i told him thats not how it works... it clearly states that the speed limit is 25 when children are IN SCHOOL... he said no its if a kid is in the zone (he points from sign to sign)... he went and wrote me up and when he came up to have me sign i told him i would be taking this one to court... i also popped off and said well you should be pulling EVERYONE over because a kid just went into that house and there is a kid playing in a yard right over there (pointing the kids out)... i took it to court and i did get the ticket excused... because it was meant to be when children were present in school... a couple months later the signs were replaced with flashers and a sign that states "SCHOOL ZONE 25 MPH WHEN FLASHING"...

actually, one time i gut pulled for using my phone 2 times, i said i was using the walkie talkie feature on my nextel and those arent illegal to use when driving. no ticket there. the other time i showed the judge a receipt for my headset (i switched to verizon) and that got me off the hook, i wasnt using the headset, but a proof of purchasing one before i got the ticket is enough to excuse you from it.

I got pulled over for doing 75 in a 55 construction zone. He ended up loving my truck (lifted black f150) and was shocked when I told him the mileage on it and how clean it was lol, thank god for that, but he gave me a ticket for no front license plate (stupid Ohio) I had just gotten my plates in the mail the day before and since the truck was from michigan so no front bracket, I had the new front plate in my glovebox. Oh well $100 ticket and no points, better then what I would have gotten.

Just applies to Ohio registered vehicles.

Opening up the 'gender' thing....
My wife has gotten out of a couple tickets by smiling or crying depending on the situation with male police. She has received one ticket in her life from a female officer. I have not had many tickets but never got out of one until I started caring for the 'K-9' county and state police dogs!
Jan.....Then cost of the ticket pales when compared with what happens to your insurance rates. Reef mentioned 'safety school'. Go to one if NH has it as it will help you with any 'points' that are placed on your license.

I have a friend in LA who got out out a ticket by pouring watching on her self, turned on the tears and told the officer she was just trying to get to a bathroom in time. It worked.

um...
Ct requires a front liscense plate... thats why they did the conversion a few years back and sent EVERYONE 2 liscense plates. the old dark blue ones at one point were only one plate, then they started doing two, but people were able to get out of it saying their plate was so old they never got the second one.

I have only been pulled over once for speeding. it was three weeks after baby was born, going probably 50 in a 35. the officer asked me if i knew what the speeding limit was, i said probably 35. i told him i was so tired from having a newborn in the house i hadn't been paying attention to my speed.
he ran my liscense and plates, said go get some sleep, and gave me a warning

Shameless absolutely shameless. Gonna have to tell the wife about that one.
I got pulled over one night by a bored cop for having a front headlight out. Anyway, this was on the way home from the computer lab (2 tests and a 50 page paper worth 1/2 my grade in this class) I live literally .5 a mile from the lab. Anyway I worked full time in school so for the last week my schedule was litterally up at 6 study, go to class at 8 till 2 work till 8 then computer lab till 3 or so in the morning then back home. So my eyes were bloodshot, I had slurred speech, and was really really drowzy. So this cop pulls me over. And I'm sitting there thinking man this cop smells like beer. Apearantly this cop thought so too. And of course asked me if I'd been drinking. I told him no, but then he asked to give me a sobriety test. Which I promptly failed. I couldn't follow his pen for the life of me, I was sooo tired.
Fortunately he let me go, but I would have killed someone if I had to go down to the department to do a blow test.
BTW the easiest way to get out of a ticket is call up a lawer and get him to delay the court date till he KNOWs the cop isn't gonna be there.

Been pulled over 3 times, expired tag (apparently you don't have the whole month, just till your birthday to renew), speeding (freakin' speed trap
, 4 cops shooting radar, 4 cops directly cars over), and this one;
Taking my brother to football practice, some moron in a 3-series pulls out in front of me really bad. This is on a 50mph road, hit the brakes hard as there's cars in the other lanes to my left. He then proceeds to not accelerate at all, only doing about 25mph. Once the side traffic passes us, I do a 'half-lane change' where I only move most of my car over, the right side tires still somwhere in his lane, and pass and cut back in, he turned into some residental complex. Well apparently the SOB flagged down a cop. The cop came flying up behind me (this is a couple miles down the road) and followed me all the way to the school and pulled me over there. The cop asked what we were doing "taking him to football practice" then he said "someone flagged me down and said someone was swerving at him in a car matching this description." I replied "Sir, I really have no idea what your talking about. A.) I really would not chance damaging this car (I always have my car clean as a whistle, wax, tire shine, etc). And B.) if someone did pulled out in front of me and refused to speed up as car dodging left and right behind us, I would be a little upset." Cop said alright and left. I was BIG TIME

My coworkers husband is a cop and he said they rarely let you off for speeding in work zones. I clearly stand by that I never saw any speed limit signs posted with a reduced speed limit. I did say this to the cop and he said that they have been asking people they pull over if they have seen signs. I figured with how friendly he was that he was going to let me off with a warning because I explained that I didnt see a sign, thought I was going the speed limit and had a clean driving records. Never any tickets. He seemed very apologetic "that they were making them give them out", but I know its the officers disgression. He also explained alot about apealing it, which seemed like he was almost encouraging this, but once again, why give the ticket in the first place? Lastly, REEFGRL doesnt look great to the cops! He asked me about that too. I was just waiting for the car search and body cavity search! I may drive out that way and see if there is in fact a sign, but their work zones change daily. They are moving these spots, which is where I think I have a leg to stand on. Watched all of the work zones carefully after that. 2 were clearly marked with more than one sign showing the actual reduced speed limit in advance. One zone had only 1 small regular sign (easily missed) and found 2 zones that had mowing only, no signs for reduced speed limit, but cones sooo....? and one zone with cones and simply and sign that said "Reduced speed ahead" with no signs posted. If I drive up there its about 50min away to get to the where abouts where I was pulled over and they may not even be working in that zone now.

tough situation. the only tickets i got out of i did from my car (one of the few fringe benefits of being a girl). i don't know what your laws are like but in most areas of PA they're pretty strict about work zones - our fines automatically double. the best you could probably do is try to fight the points to keep your license clean and just pay the fine (assuming you have a points system). good luck!

yeah the fine was doubled which is why it was $150.00. I would rather have the points than pay the money! I dont think our state even does points. In Vermont where I received the tickets, it was 2 points. Right now with fuel so high, cost of living is higher, this ticket isnt hitting at a great time. I already sent the paper work in to appeal it in court, so that will be a done deal. Question is whether I can get it discharged or reduced. I feel I have a strong leg to stand on, but you just never know. They can still charge me $50.00 just for taking it to court, so fee could go up to $200.00

I wouldn't rest very much stock on the fact there may or may not have been a sign. Even if there wasn't a posted limit, there are 'assumed' speed limits for different road types. Look up your local laws or your drivers handbook. When I got popped in the speed trap, it was down the street my house was on, and between my house and the area the speed trap was, there are no speed signs. However, for a 2-lane street, assumed limits are 30mph (which is what the limit was).
