what is your calcium level at?
i dont see why you need to dose anything! regular water changes should do just fine for what is needed. your coraline more then likly isnt dieing off cuz of lac of calcium....

I am courious. I have scene many post a comment like this. I know you can't answer for others but.......What is you tank setup? What I mean is how bad does your tank demand calcium? Also how big and how often do you do water changes? Do you test for calcium?
There are differences in peoples tanks and thier husbandry. It also depends on what salt is being used. The amount of water being changed and the frequiency of the changes. Should a reefer decide to change thier water every 2 weeks instead of every week....the stability in the system still needs to be there.

It's a 90g. You can see in the bottom left where I can scrape off the coraline with a razor. I leave the back glass alone too.
It's been about 6 months but the coraline is finally taking off in my frag tank as well. Patience is the big ticket.

try scraping the coraline off your rocks that have it and put the scrapings in front of your powerheads...it will help spread it all around.

Coraline really takes time to take off. Then the more you have the more it can spread.
Local grocery stores where I live have it --- it's in the canning section. Has a green top white plastic can/jar. Just don't inhale the powder when you open it - it's semi caustic.

I drip it in my main tank throughout the day via ATO. My frag tank I add it in the overflow and it goes through the sump first before hitting the tank but it really should be dripped in throughout the day to prevent spikes.
Don't add 1 tablespoon per gallon of tank water -- add only to topoff water and preferably dripped to prevent spikes in alk/pH.

sweet...thanks. i dont have an ATO cause my sump takes up all of my stand so i'll have to be creative. or i could just add it to my top offs that i do myself?

Honestly -- I just put a scoop in the overflow for my frag tank and then add water. Not ideal -- but don't have the 100 bucks to spend for the ATO system right now.

same here, nowhere to put it as well. i guess i will take the risk of spikes until i get dosing it down. is it alot cheaper than calcium products in the LFS?

I dunno.. I never go to Wally World. The two grocery stores I go to both carry it. Worst case scenario I'm sure Google can provide you with a shipper. I always buy 2-3 at a time although 1 container lasts me a really long time.

bulltir, it's not with the food section at a Wal-Mart. It's over on the other side, opposite the clothes with like tupperware and stuff. Should be like a ton of mason jars near it...
Everyone needs to very careful with this stuff though. I use it to control pH in my QT's as well as calc in the reef. I learned the hard way, losing a beautiful Doctorfish, that just an extra dash of this stuff can shoot pH through the roof.
This should last a while tho

I use the pickling lime. 1 teaspon per gallon. Couldnt find it at wal**rt so I had to order it. Bought a case so I have about a year supply for like $35. I used Purple Up and its great. Coraline growth was amazing. I think its good stuff
