Anyone go "fish-free"?

I'm just wondering, besides a one species specific tank like for a mantis, are there tanks out there without fish? I am finding that the most interesting things to me in our tank are not the fish. I love watching the snails, the shrimp, the corals. Guess I wonder how weird I am for thinking of having a tank without any actual fish in it.

There are many people that have reefs without fish, but keep inverts. I have a 20G with just inverts and corals.

I'll bite on this. What kind of corals and inverts can go into a cooler water tank? Say a tank that is at its hotest, 74.

Most softies can deal with 72 or higher, it's the more tempermental SPS and some LPS that can't deal with the cooler temp. The real issue is keeping the temperature consistent. If it's consistently 72, 73 or 74, corals can survive just fine.
A lot of the issue with keeping corals at cooler temperatures is the salinity. Most refractometers and hydrometers are set to read a salinity at higher temps, so you get a false reading if you don't calibrate correctly and this causes more problems than just the temperature itself does.

If you want to spend the time and are diligent enough research filter feeders. You can get some amazing colors in this type of specific tank
