anyone had this happen?

I have a proheat adjustable heater on my powerstrip right by the plugs for my lights. I had to unplug the lights to remove the top and when I plugged them back in I bumped the heater dial to about 88 degrees. I left for 2-3 hours and came back, my tank was past 84. None of the dusters or shrooms closed and the fish were fine but my leather was closed. I put the heater back, taped it in place, and took the top off to cool. within 4 hours it was back to 80 degrees. That was 2.5 days ago. My leather has not opened. It isn't sagging or changing colors. When the lights come on, it unfolds slightly. It is kind of flaking like its "skin". Should I worry, give it time, do somethin? It's my baby and I'm getting kinda worried.

everything should be cool. Just keep an eye on your fish for ick or parasites. with a temp change they are more vulnerable. The flaking is just a shedding give it some time it will be ok. My leather is the toughest thing in my tank

temp spikes are a pain. Since it was for a short period you sould see minimal effect.
However... overheating can be a major problem. Most people forget how much hotter their tank gets on that "1st hot day of the summer" and come home to find their tank 5-10 degrees hotter. This can be a very costly mistake.
One summer we had an unexpected heat wave... I came home to find my tank at 86 degrees. I lost alot of fragile stuff and experienced a lot of tissue loss on some corals.
All have recovered and now I have measures in place for this type of thing.
Good luck

thanks for calming my nerves. That leather in the pic is gorgeous. I don't know what mine is exactly, it looks just like that one but it is dark brown when "open".
