in my tank the Silver Branch Pumping Xenia never grew or spread and slowly
died, but then i bought some of the White Pom Pom Xenia and it went crazy.
sold enough to my LFS they don`t want any more as of now. so now when i do water changes i just suck them off the rocks and dump them ...

The easiest way to get xenia to grow out of control is to follow the 4 steps below:
1. 10,000K light
2. actinic light
3. overfeed the crap out of the tank introducing lots of phosphates and nitrates into the system... this ALWAYS works.
4. Keep salinity (1.024-1.026) and KH (12) on the high side.

I had this problem when I first added them to my tank, It seemed to me whatever they ate I had a load of in my water because they had taken over my tank in less then a month. After a few months of owning my tank they started to melt away to just a few stalks and have seemed to hold steady at that number for almost a year.

Man, I wish I had the overgrowing problem. My xenia is growing good, but not fast at all. Mine grows rather slowish.

i guess it depends on the xenia species. mine i ordered from this site. it did spread at first, but died off a few weeks later. after few months tho, it just took off.
