I'm trying to find picutures of female bluejaw trigger. I'm thinking about adding one, but I want to get a few pictures to make sure I'm thinking of the right fish.
I've only found one picture (below) and I love the look of the female. If you have one, is this pic pretty accurate?

I think they are similar to the niger trigger - generally they are mostly reef safe, but ultimately it depends on the personality of the individual fish.

I find them to be much safer than the niger - my sargassum and bluejaw swim in the mid to upper part of the tank - they have no interest in clams, inverts, or corals. I have had the bluejaw for nearly two years now.
My brother has a niger - it leaves corals and shrimp alone - however if it sees an upside down snail it will go for it - or if a hermit crab is in his area he will pick it up and move it. I wouldn't have one in a reef tank.
The word "trigger" comes up and people automatically think they are all nasty - there are LOTS of triggers from various familys.
That is a really good pic of a female - I couldn't fine any pics - the ones I have seen in person were relatively bland - They color up more with age. I was thinking of trying one as well.

They look just like the males except for the blue on the males throat, jaw, cheek, chin whichever.
There are a few more triggers that are reef safe like the melicthys niger (hawaiian trigger) or melicthys indicus (Indian trigger) both are easily mixed up. both are know as a Black Durgeon Trigger and are like puppy dogs.
Also the Crosshatch trigger is reef safe but expensive.

Females lack the yellow trim and yes they are reef safe honestly the only trigger i recomend .ive seen to many nigers loose a screw in there head over time.I have a 7 inch male and love him unfortunately never see females in the lfs around here.

The Melicthys niger (Hawaiian trigger) is not the same as a Niger Trigger.
Actually the Crosshatch, Hawaiian, Indian, would be just as suited to the reef as a Blue Throat.
