Congrads!! I have 2 now that one ,and a cool orange one with black stripes, they are algae eaters, what size tank do you have ? mine have a habit of getting into the overflows and I find them in my sump:( , very cool creatures, how much you get that for? 10.00 bucks here

wow thats a really good price. did you get it from a company on the internet? mine was 18.99. i have a 90 gallon. i also got a manderin today but i was told to try to return it because it will probably die since i just started my tank about 2 months ago. actually it was the first fish i added. are the slugs poisonous?

got them at LFS, 1 in a 90 gallon wont do harm , if you had a 20 gallon, I would say yes, just watch your overflows or powerheads they can fit throught small spaces, you need lots of pods for a manderin, add one after a year, :)

well ive had about 10-15 hermits for a while as well as 4 damsels which i will be getting rid of as soon as i get some better fish. i also have 5 mexican turbo snails, a feather duster, 75 lbs of live rock and a purple lobster and 3 peppermint shrimp. today i got the mandarin and the slug but i think ill try to return the mandarin if i can. i think im gonna order from this site a naso blonde tang possibly and other things soon.(urchins, shrimp, starfish)

very nice, I had 4 slugs at one time, now have 2, like I said just watch the escape routes, I just got a Naso Blonde about a month ago, my favorite in the tank :)

Do those slugs release toxins when they die?
I have been considering getting a green lettuce nudi or the purple pictured above. Any comments as to which would be more suitable for a 29 gal. reef?
Plum,
Have your Nudi's ever harmed anything?
Thanks....MCF

I had 2 then added 2 more, I had 1 green lettuce dissapeared in a week:( the ones I have in there now have been in the for almost 3 months, I have seen some starfish try to eat them too at LFS but spit them out, I thought I lost them all they were happy in my sump, the third may still be in there but have not seen it in a while, they move pretty fast as slugs go, I dont know how toxic they are but I have had no ill effects so far :)

Have you verified that that Nudi eats algae? I strongly doubt it could. It looks like a sponge muncher to me. These critters are extremely narrow on their diet. Often only eating a single species and will starve without their prey present in the tank.

Bang Guy,
Do you know of any Nudi's that are primarily algae eaters?
i.e. Green Lettuce Nudi? Or other?
Some SW sites sell those purple Nudi's as algae eaters, can anyone verify this from experience??

I saw some of those cool purple ones at the LFS and asked the guy there about them. He said they can harm the good stuff on your LR.
Anyone else heard this?

According to my Id book, pseudoceros ferrugineus are truinicate eaters, sponges, the 2 I have, are chromocloris magnifica, the orange and hypselocloris bullocki , the purple one, which they say are not,? all I can say as I have never seen them touch a coral or sponge ,and were probably the Happiest in my Sump:) I was going to take a pic of the orange one but hes hiding,
