Anyone have this WD skimmer combo?

Does anyone have this WD skimmer combo: AQUACLEAR AQUATICS PRO 75 WET/DRY? Does your skimmer work? Mine just appears to make a little tornado in the chamber and nothing else. The cup never collects anything.
I bought this with a whole system someone wanted to get rid off.

I have a wet-dry with a skimmer built in. Not that specific one, but similar. My skimmer is useless and I wish I had spce in my sump to upgrade. I am going to remove the whole wet/dry and replace it with a 10g and a Euroreef.

You can modify the pump to make the skimmer more efficient. They are good for the money, but you also get what you pay for.
