Anyone use this or hear of it? What are the cons? Get some on the rear of my glass on top of the coral line algae.

I used it and in two days my red slime was completly gone. I didn't see any cons, just make sure you do a 20% water change after the slime is gone.

ive heard of it. I personally would never use it . all it does is kill all the bacteria in your tank good and bad. u can get rid of it without using chemicals with a proper maintnance scheduel. cut back on feeding and syphon out all u can while doing 20 perent water changes every week till its gone

i am assuming you are interested in this for getting rid of cyano? If so, I was battling it as well and what really helped for me was running no lights for 3 days. There is a thread on reefcentral about this. I would suggest checking your phosphates, doing frequent water changes, cutting back feedings, etc. before doing anything drastic. Also, a good powerhead goes along way in preventing cyano. It seems to be something everyone goes through, especially in new tanks.

i had had red slim very bad, i used it and i am red slim free, and still am. the only thing is that it turns your water yellow for a couple hours , but your fish will be fine........ hope things go welll.....

I don't have it anywhere but the rear of the tank. It grows ontop of the coral line on the back glass. thats the only place. I just heard of it, not even sure if I'm going to use it. Seems everyone had good results with it though. Thanks for the replies.

ive heard of people using it and worked great, but Ive heard people use it and still battled red slime after. I would find the reason why you have red slime and just stop it right there.

I am using it now. I was told that it is an enzyme and so has no affect on the good bacteria in your tank.

Increasing flow got rid of my cyano. I would NOT use red slime remover in my tank. I've heard bad things about it.

Use Chemi-Clean, it's safe and does not effect good bacteria.
It is so easy for people to recommend "increase flow" to people with cyano problems, but that clearly does not take care of the problem - nor does it 100% prevent it. All this recommendation does is increase your post count and you know it! ;)

Chemi-Clean will take care of the current growth, however your cyano will come back within a month if the parameters are right.
You can PREVENT cyano by not using tap water and not feeding as much. Use RO water, you can buy it at 1 gallon/69 cents.
Search the forums for "Chemi-Clean." You'll find nothing but success stories.

Uh....no. Increasing flow DID get rid of my cyano problem. I think I am well respected on these boards. Why would I need to increase my post count?

Is that why my skimmer is going nutty? For how long does it have to be off?

Thanks but the weird thing is I follow all these rules. I try as much as possible to not over feed. My Clown is a pig and I have to make sure I drop enough for my other fish to get to the food. But for the most part no food hits the bottom.
I have 3 powerheads in a 46 gallon. My PC's are on from 12-9pm.
I do 10% water changes a WEEK.
No slime anywhere but on the glass.

This is exactly what happened when I used it. The reason I got infested with red slim in the first place was from a piece of rock with mushrooms on it that I purchased from a LFS. It spread through my tank like wild fire. I tried everything to get rid of it. Cut back on feeding, cut light usage down, increased flow, I use RO/DI water, I even tried picking it out when ever I could. Nothing worked untill I used Red Slim remover, with no side effects I might add. (geesh, I sound like a commersial
) but seriously, no dead fish, no dead inverts, didn't even effect my biological system, I still have pods sticking out my whazoo!! I highly recommend it!
