I've had my RBTA for 4months now. It's grown since I bought it, so i guess that is a good sign. Plus he is always out and open, good coloration, and mouth is never open. Feed him once a week and he looks nice. I hope he splits.

I've had my anemone(or one of the clones) for 5 or 6 years I can't really remember when I got it. My father gave it to me because he got tired of it killing his coral. I have always used VHO lighting. It started in a 55 gallon with 440 watts of lighting(my father's tank). Then I kept it in a 40 gallon with 288 watts of VHO. Next I kept it in a 75 gallon tank with 440 watts of VHO where it has been for a few years(in different apartments/houses). I agree that good lighting and consistently good water quality are necessary for long term success. This is an old picture, I haven't taken a picture of it in the new place yet.

I had a rose anemone for 7 years. It grew to be 18 inches. It stayed in the same place for all those years and was the darling of my 115 gal reef. I eventually had to sell this tank and I have no idea if it lived through the move. I didn't want to know but I sure hope so.

Next month it will be one year I have had this guy. When I got him he was the size of a golf ball and pure white with purple tips when I first got him, ( I though it was supposed to look like at the time.) With lots of care and advise from Thomas it is now the size of a dinner plate and still growing. I spot feed him every couple of weeks. I wish I had the before and after pictures I put on here of it almost a year ago, I think they got deleted when the web site changed. I don't think these anemone split. I just wonder how big this thing is going to get? It is a sebae anemone.

ive had this guy for about a year now not exactly how long yet.... its had the bubble tips sometimes but lately under the MH lighting its now under its just regualr tips.... there originally was one but it split into two then i took one back to the LFS cuz it was moving around the tank stinging my corals....
ive also kept 2 LTA anemones over a year but traded them back as well to focus on more of a reef tank with more corals.... anemones get too big and sting other things.... this anemone hasnt moved since i put it there and best yet it will touch my xenia and toadstool and not sting any of them
and my tomato clown loves it as well sleeps in it all the time

Now that is totally awesome feedback, I'm going to add (with your permission) that pic into my files so I can show others what a healthy specimen looks like. Most times I feel like I'm just beating my head against the wall, then you pop up with this. I really appreciate it.
No these guys do not split normally, and as to how large they get. Tentacles length can very from 1 to 5 inches, and the oral disk can be as much as 20 inches across, but most commonly seen in the retail store from 4 to 10 inches across.
Thanks for sharing

Thomas, I think these pics should be a bit better. I just wish I had the ones from 8 months ago so people could see what it did look like, you would never think it was or even could be the same anemone.. :happyfish

Man-oh-Man, the anemone pics are gorgeous. I love anemones, I think they are my favorite reef animal. I will post pics soon, but I only have my bta and condy about 4 or 5 months.
