If you have any coral do not get a CC star......I am speaking from my personal experience, so there is a possibility that I'm wrong on how they spread but it does seem this way to me, not from a book or anything so take it with a grain of salt.
Majano is not as bad as aptasia for being a pest. An aptasia sends spores in the water and new aptasia grows in all kinds of places, under rocks where you don't notice it and that send spores out which is a nightmare to control...majano is more like a true anemone, they split....they don't go all over the tank unless they are dislodged or broken up to become more (your little gouging was a bad idea) When the rock they are on gets crowded they release and go someplace more favorable.
They do split in something like a week...so if you see one don't try and dig it, out squirt some joes juice right on the center and let it close around it..so what if you have to do that 4 times...once my two were gone I never had anymore and it's been over 5 years.
