I have one on my RV. They make patches for them, just go to an RV/Camper store.

Sorry Salt...I have a local RV dealership nearby that I always deal with. Also, I have not run into this problem yet with my canopy, but I do know that it's common, and the RV dealership has patches. So I just figured it would be standard for any of them around the Country to have the patches.
Just make sure you put the patch on the top. If it's close in color/patter, nobody will ever notice it.

well the bottom is what caused the tear in the first place, i dont know if yours has it or not, but mine , in the center , bottom side of the 'roll up bar ' is a plastic cupping piece or guide. the ends must have gotten a little slack and it ripped as i tightened it down on the cup. i am more concerned over strength and durability then the look, should i still patch it on top?

I'm not sure what the 'plastic cupping piece' is that you are talking about. Mine has roll bar, and in the center there is a cord that you hold onto to pull it out, or retract it back. If you are talking about the ends of the roll bar, I can see where that might catch on something and cause a rip.
