Anyone use a hob refugium?

I've been reading ahead to see what kind of purchases I will be making to improve my tank in the future, and one that crossed my path was the CPR hob refugium I think they are called (aquafuge & aquafuge pro)...
I was curious if anyone has had any experiences with these in a positive or negative light? and if there is a general rule with how big a refugium is needed for a certain sized tank?
also if the aquafuge ps with the skimmer attached is worth the extra money or if your better off getting a seperate dedicated skimmer for your system.
I only have a 29 gallon tank but I figured that I might as well make it the best home I possibly can for any inhabitants that I get in the future and so far I havn't gotten any bad advice here so this looks like a good place to start.

Hey I read that post chain very informative...
quick question how many methods of filtration are you running on your tank currently? I'm trying to get a successful reef going, and once I start thinking about corals I figured a refugium was a good step.
currently I have a skimmer, and a canister filter for the first stages cycle, first inverts+fish... but that should change soon.
should I ditch the canister when I get a fuge and just leave the LR/LS,skimmer, and fuge to do the work?

Definately ditch the canister filter, I heard they are nothing but Nitrate traps unless they a constantly maintained, For filtration, In addition to your LS, LR, PS, I also like to run Activated Carbon and in addition with your established fuge, Thats all you will need!
