had that light fixture and it worked PERFECT.
Its a GREAT light to start from.
I got it..Month or so later changed out to the bulbs I wanted. then I changed out to coralvue ballast down the road. It still cost $200 less then the Coralife light of the same setup. Yet it helps you split up the cost over a time frame you can handle.
Dont listen to all the BS. Most of those people never even had one and have no judgement to even open their mouth. We had like a 200 page thread on reefcentral about the light was just fine.
Do a search for Odyssea and you will find lots of opinions. It's all about getting what you pay for. They work well, may not be the brightest and not have the best bulbs. You have to upgrade to be competitive with the rest of the lighting world.
I agree that you get what you pay for, but you can always upgrade out the elements; first do the ballasts then the bulbs. The PC ballasts burn up easily from what I've read so you might want to do that one too. Upgrading the elements will likely still be cheaper in the long run than buying a Coralife or Current fixture of equal "power".
ive had mine for 6 months or soo just replaced the pc lights next is the halide bulbs but i have no complaints it works great my coral growth is great
im sure you can get better systems but for the money you cant beat it
I have 2 of these one 36 inch and 1 72 I see no real difference between these and my coralife aqualight pro (except for a sticker) Save your money and buy the odessa
where is best place to get replacement bulbs? what type should i get? i recently seen a t5 tek light with 4 actinic and 4 white and the color was very nice would like to duplicate with my halides if i can .. and where can i get after market ballast for the halides that will let me use the full capacity of the bulb
I've had the 3 footer for a year now. Two 96 pc. One 12,000 k ,the other actinic. No problem. I thought it was running a little hot so I put a little bigger fans in. That was about two weeks after I got it. Maybe that helped.
