Awesome, thanks guys! Yea, that's one of my spots of agitation. Most of the "reviews" on films seem to be a play-by-play synopsis of the film instead. Someone has either seen the movie and doesn't need the recap, or hasn't and doesn't need the spoilers.
Yep, Edge of Darkness was Mel's return to the big scene (busy producing Apocalypto excluded) after a 7 year hiatus. I caught it on DVD myself as well (man, whoever the RedBox guy is, is genius). Mel doesn't disappoint and picks up where he left off with 'Signs,' a character who you find yourself latched on to. Mel has sheer believability for whatever role he's doing, that few other actors have. EoD did great managing it's running multiple plot lines, and plenty of twists and turns.
The original Shrek is definitely up there all-time and certainly is one of the top, if not the top, animated movie from 21st century. Fun fact, Chris Farley was originally cast for Shrek. If you notice Shrek does a lot of "air quotes." Classic Farley that they left scripted in.
