dont know.. put it back in the box, thinking about sending it to ---- alley... on the other hand, somebody just donated a 10 or 20g tank, FOC. if i can get it to fit under my stand, i might go the sump route and keep it down there
hmmm

I would keep it. It took mine about a week or so "after I got it" to stop with the bubbles. When I turn it off it has bubbles again but it takes an hour or so now for the bubbles to stop now.

so, when i do my water change this weekend, rather than dump the 5g of old water down the toilet, should i keep it aside, hook up my skimmer to that to break it in?

actually, come to think of it, if i set up the skimmer to break in (full blast on the air), the collection cup would not overflow, it would fall back into the skimmer rather than flow over the top of the tank.
hmmmmmmmm
might give it a shot

I would give it a shot. I dont think I understand is the water overflowing into the collection cup even with the air opend all the way up? If so you might have a defect somehwere in the skimmer I would return it for a new one. Or you need to use a bigger air hose or try a new hose to see if that is the problem. If it isnt overflowing then it just needs to break in.

im such a jackash. the inner tube that sits in the outer tube, i didnt have it pushed all the way down
now i have the venturi only about half way open, and the bubbles are holding at about halfway up the collection cup cone.

i have it breaking in hanging on a bucket of old saltwater from a water change. once its ready to go, i'll drop it on my tank.
