Anyone with Venustus Angelfish experience??

Has anybody out there had luck with Venustus or Purplemasked angelfish? I had heard they were difficult to keep. All the websites list them as moderate. Beautiful little fish seem to be between a dwarf and a large angelfish in terms of size. I was wondering how well they converted to frozen food.

I have a bit of research into these guys, somewhere down the line I will get one.
They are a somewhat deeper water fish, probably most in the 60ft-120ft range, so it's greatly preferred to have a tank under 75°. Size, I wouldn't say they're any larger then a normal Dwarf angel (to spite them, depending on your view, being in a different genus, Paracentropyge), It's just that on average, larger specimens are captured. Many true dwarfs, BiColors, Keyhole (the two largest), Eibli, Half Black, Lemonpeel, outgrow the Venustus. Their diet is normal dwarf angel fare.
Unfortunately
.... Because these are higher end fish, there are a number of people who would like to get their grubby hands on their piece of the pie, and that means you have a chance to receive a fish that wasn't collected healthily. The sad fact of the matter is that most Venustus either didn't receive the proper decompression steps, and/or were collected through being gassed. Some areas the fish come from are better then others, but it's still a chance. PM me you're still interested.

Unforunately

AquanKight, thanks for the response, Im still interested however it would be difficult for me to maintain a temperature below 78 degrees. Was curious how vital macro algae growth was to keep one of these guys, also was wondering if you could tell me how to PM you, I couldnt figure it out.

Lower temps are pretty crucial. Longterm survivability with 78° temps, I would unfortunately say is unlikely. In investment in a chiller sounds like it will be mandatory.
About PMs, I forgot, members have to have 50posts to have PM's turned on. I'll just post it. If you're considering, a Venustus, the only collection point I would buy from is Cebu. Venustus are popular out of Manila. Supposedly there's an American there, doing collections "the right way." If the vendor you plan on buying from can't tell you where their fish is from, don't buy it.
