Just going with standard lighting I think. My phosphates and TDS are pretty bad,but I don't have a problem with algae and I don't use RO or RO/DI.I am going to order MH and VHO so now every time I do a water change I go to Walmart ant get RO water. So I personally think with bright lighting,RO or RO/DI is important especially for algae control.

You have several options. LFS should sale both R/O and pre mixed salt water. Our local grocery store has a R/O dispenser that I use. I do test the water before using to make sure it has no phosphates. They do a real good job of changing the filters when it's time. HTH
