Does anyone with a tank over 75g live in an apartment? I know you cant have one in an upstairs apartment, but what about downstairs? My fiancee and I have a 210g, which we thought when we bought it that our living arangements were set, but now things have changed and now we need to move

How can they stop you from having a tank? If you are downstairs is their a basement under you?

If your floor (assuming on a higher floor) cannot hold the weight of a tank (even a heavy tank), then the floor is not well built and you shouldn't live there.
Many entertainment centers (and as someone said, water beds) weigh as much if not more than many tanks.
Also, you live in Florida and if the building was built after 2000 it's built to a special hurricane code, so it's strong enough.
Again, any floor should hold. If not, which some dont, you shouldn't be there anyways.

A waterbed weighs as much as a refidgerator...so should the fish tank.
If you can keep the fridge in the apt. then you should be able to keep the tank there also.
I think all rooms have the same support systems for weight.

I've got to believe that a waterbed would weigh quite a bot more than a refrigerator.

Its all about the footprint of the tank.
Yes, a waterbed weighs more than a fridge, but the bed has a buch bigger footprint than the fridge. Best thing to do is ask the apt manager what the floors are constructed out of. There shouldnt be a problem. Right now, im tossing around the idea of setting up a 155 on my 3rd floor. The only reason that i havent yet is the neibors (sp) downstaris suck big time. I cant walk around in my room without them banging on the ceiling. I dont know if it is because of shotty carpentry, or theyre just pains
