aptasia

It seems like over night my 125 gallon tank is over run with aptasia. I would kill a few here and there with Joes Juice but now I probably couldn't get all of it with Joes Juice. I just ordered 15 peperment shrimp from SWF.and was wondering if that would take care of it . Thanks

Did you try the boiling water than syphon trick yet? My 2 peppermint shrimp could care less about my 3 Aiptasia's I have in my tank..lol

never tried boiling water. There is so much of it and places that I cant get at.

i had 5 rocks full of aptasia. bought 3 peppermints and they ate all of it in very little time

AHH, I have a strange tank,, MY CLEANERS DONT CLEAN and MY PEP'S would rather DANCE than eat any Aiptasia.. lol

Only my NEON GOBY is maintaining his keep!

i had the same trouble bought a copper banded butterfly and they are all gone now, now i have heard its hit and miss if they will eat them but mine did a great job

i was thinking of getting the copper band butterfly. my only concern is will it eat my corals? my 2 peppermints arent eating the aiptasia.

Same boat here...looking at maybe a Copperband. I just bought a 120g that I'm upgrading to, but I've still got quite a few Aip in the rock I'll be transferring over. Can't do Peppermints since I have a Marine Betta and Dwarf Zebra Lion...unless I move those fish to another tank temporarily.
Do Copperbands nip at corals or clams?

i have a 90 reef with loads of corals and clam...i do not have any sps he has never touched my zoas mushrooms lps or any softs

This may or may not work, I'm simply repeating what I read or heard somewhere else. They said to cut one of the apatasia up, kinda stab the little beast and that the shrimp will get a good smell of the aptasia and that it will trigger somekinda feeding responce

Hopefully out of the 15 peps I ordered, some of them will eat it. I got a lot of it last night with kalkwasser. I cant believe that I was bying Joes Juice a little bottle for 7 bucks when kalkwasser is the same stuff and it works.
