Aqua C Remora Question

I've decided to purchase one of these with the maxijet 1200 pump. My question is, one of the options is to have a drain fitting in the collection cup. Is this something I want? Does this just allow if you were gone for a long time to have it drain to somewhere else? How long would you have to be gone for?

i would say save your money. the skimmer is designed so it wont overflow, so you dont have to worry about that. how fast the skimmer will fill depends on your individual tank, but unless it was going to be pulling such an insane amount that you were dumping it a couple times a day (which has never happened to me... remora 1 year) i dont think it would really be worth it to get it.

So how often do you have to dump it? The tank is a 46 gallon bowfront. Is this something that's done weekly?

I have the nano and I only have to clean it out once a week if that. If you have to do it more than that you need to adjust the skimmer for a dryer foam.

I didn't get that when I got my Remora. I clean it out once a week or so. I would get it without the drain fitting. Once you start you'll know what I mean when you take it out to clean, it gets quite nasty and need to be washed down good.....
