Hi, i just got one of these and have never had a skimmer before and dont know how to set it up. I have heard its just a plug in and it works unit but i really dont know how to set the pump up to it. Also i got the overflow box and have no idea what to do with that. If someone could point me in the right direction with maybe some pics to it would be great. Thanks.

You have the skimmer, with the grey hard tube coming out of the front. Attached to that is a 2 inch piece if flex hose with a clamp, that should have been provided... ON the other end of the flex is the pump. The intake. You attach that with the other clamp. I had to use adjustable pliers to get it as tight as possible.
Now you find a spot for the overflow box. Put it into the tank and if somebody could hold it still for a minute that'd be helpful. You have to fill the left side with water so it won't keep trying to float. Then you lower your pump into the box, put the box where you want it and tighten those 3 plastic screws on the front. I no longer have mine but here is the only pic I could find... I'll look for more...

Protein floats. So, it's not an overflow, it's actually called a surface skimmer. It ensures that the water the pump takes in is solely surface water. Now, if your skimmer is to low then it will actually pull from under the surface, but if you can maintain the "waterfall effect" as in that pic then you are sure to get the surface skimmed...

Perfect description!!! Except my box was upgraded by a reefer friend, he attached suction cups on the back of the box. I was able to do it by myself without help. It works great while I had it up, but I took it down when I installed my sump/fuge. So now the box is just laying around collecting dust until I find another use for it. I tend to find use for stuffs I have laying around sooner or later, they come in handy sometime..... :happyfish

hey mikey, does your remora makes a lot of noise too? i mean, are they noisy like mine?is that normal? i'm kind of concerned if that noise and the vibration coming from it would dislodge my tank....

Hey, i got hime set up today. The frothy foamy water is supposed to come just up to the bottom of the cup right. Like there is the cup and then the tube that goes down into the skimmer the foamy bubbles are supposed to just be right there right? Not actually coming into the cup. Mine are right at the bottom of the tube that comes out of the bottom of the cup. I just dont know how its supposed to be. Also, how does the waste get into the cup if the foam doesnt come into the cup?

There should be a black band aroung the cup. Slide it as far up as it will go, which will make the collection cup sit lower. Just keep an eye on it, since your remora is new, it will not produce crap immediately,

hmm.... i've been running it for a while already. to me, it's not new anymore. the noise id actually coming from the grey tube down to the pump. i have the rio 1200.... i tried moving the skimmer, looking for the "right spot", but it's still there!

The pump is probably vibrating the tube, that's probably what's causing the noise.... :happyfish
