I am not pleased with the operation of my current air stone driven skimmer, and am looking into purchasing a AquaC Skimmer. I will get the model with the Maxi-Jet 1200 and drain. I have a 55g tank.
What I am wondering is are people happy with this skimmer?
Does it work well?
Is it easy to use?
I want peoples experiences, good or bad!
Also, recommendations of a different skimmer that can be used in a similar scenario and is in the same price range are welcome as well.
Thanks in advance!

the aqua-c is a skimmer, but makes too much air noise imo.
While reading reviews, I've heard both it's loud and it's silent. I don't know if it is instalation differences, or differences in the skimmer its self. Besides, the overflow already makes quite a bit of noise. Noise isn't a problem.

I have one and it does make noise but not sure if I would consider it loud or quite. I've never had anyone come over and ask what is that loud noise. Amyway, it yanks out junk daily so I like it. Only skimmer I have ever had so I have nothing to compare it to.

That's what I like, the price tag. It has good reviews, and most people say it quiets down after a few weeks. The problem is a lot of people write reviews before they've had time to really use the product.
Anyway, thanks for the input, and keep it coming!

I have the aqua c remora nano. It is noisy but I've only had it for 11 days. The break I'm period is supposed to be about two weeks min. So far it seem to be doing the job and it looks really sleek. Easy installation.

I have had the remora and the urchin (in sump version) both are decent skimmers for the money the remora is noisy but I would not call it loud. From what I have seen all injection style skimmers make some noise. The only thing you will have to watch is you got to keep the injector clean for optimal performance. They dont clog up to often but they will get chetao and stuff in them. Just when your not getting as much skimmate as normal its time to clean it. Not hard to do at all. Good luck. I had them on my 55 when I used it as a tank (its my sump now) and I never had a problem with them.

I also have a bakpak2 on my 29G...AGAIN...Skims great, extremely quiet...I still have bubbles

Thanks for all the replies!
I think I'm almost sold on it.
One thing though, Ive read reviews about the pump coming free from the tubing, and spraying water outside the tank. Has anyone had this problem, and if so how was it resolved?
Does this thing spit out many bubbles?

this definitley could happen. The pump is basically connected with a plastic pipe clamp..... most pumps are connected this way or with zip ties though

Which works better, zip ties or clamps?
Also, is the pump attached with suction cups, or just hanging?

I have zip ties and a clamp on mine. It hangs and at the bottom of the unit on the outside are two screw like things that let you adjust the unit to the tank. I know that wasn't explained well. Basically you adjust the screw like things to balance the remora vertically and give it a snug fit to the back of the tank.

It just hangs, and it came with the clamps. There are suction cups on the bottom of my pump. I am considering making a small plexi box to sit under it so that it has a surface to sit on. Right now I jsut have a piece of live rock rubble under it, and surrounded the intake with other liverock to obscure it from view. I'll take some picture tonight if you want

Is it on pretty tight?
I just don't want the pump coming off and spraying water all over the electric outlets.

Pics are always welcome!
Is there any way to hold the pump on so it can't come off?
You said the pump is supported by suction cups?

It has never come off. You could always support it with rock if your rock goes high enough. I do check it from time to time to make sure it's still tight. I mine did become disconnected, the power head would probably just drop down into the tank. Not sure how much (if any) water would be shot out of the tank. Now there is a screw in thw aqua c near the top that you can take out for cleaning inside the unit. Don't forget to put the screw back in before plugging it back in. I did that and learned the the hard was that a lot of water can quickly shoot out of that tiny hole.
