I can only say, ya'll are nutty in a very fun way. And I
to you with all this knowledge. So after reading all of the above, hopefully I have it right. A little chemi pure elite, a little filter floss and chaeto only and be done. I'm wanting the refugium because from research, reading and this site, it's a good thing to have for my tank. Honestly, I'm not even sure I can get it to work, but will give it a try. If it doesn't work, the filter will work for the QT tank I'm going to set up since reading the post of what happen to meowser. It's hump day folks, have a great day.
What do you intend to do for a light?

Happy Friday Reefers!! Well I need some help and I hate to appear so dumb but here we go. I received the Aquaclear 70. My plan is to remove my media holder that is in the center section of my overflow on the tank, hook the Aquaclear filter to it, using that media and then adding some cheato to the filter are in hopes of setting up a refugium and going that way. Are my thoughts correct or do i need to do this a different way? Right now I have some chemi pure elite sitting in the very bottom and plan on leaving it that way. Please, thoughts, suggestions, advice is more than welcome. I certainly need the education and the help.
Secondly, today I bought a 10 gallon glass tank another Aquaclear filter 30 to set up a correct quarantine tank. Right now I'm making up some saltwater and hopefully by Sunday will have enough to get the QT set up. I'm confused about how to cycle it. What is the best way to accomplish the cycle? I've read about using a sponge from my DT and some of the water but what else should I do? Again appreciate any help- thanks ahead of time.

so ur fuge should just be the algae and a light above it! U can hang it on the tank and run it normal! Have u googled AC110 fuge mod...if not i would. Itll show u everything u need to on some of the links that it comes up with!
Id do a piece of raw shrimp for ur 10gal qt. Leave it in their for awhile and ull get a nice oder and some anmonia to start the process. You could always drink a 6pack of tall boys and pee in it but thats the old school way! LOL

I'll do the google for the AC110 fuge however, I don't think I'll go old school - I'm drinking wine as we type but I''ll go with the raw shrimp LOL!! too funny!

Just checking in - the QT is up and running finally. I used the 10 gal glass tank with an Aquaclear 30 filter and a 50W heater. I placed some pvc elbows in there. I used some tank water, some fresh salt water and the sponge from my DT and will be going to the store to get a fresh shrimp. So that should start the cycle and I'll give it some time checking my parameters all the way. I do have a question. I read somewhere on here that you could put some LR in the QT tank as long as you never use that LR in your DT? Is this correct? I believe that's because if you have to medicate a QT'ed fish you don't want that medication in your DT and it soaks into the LR. Am I correct in my thinking here?
When I get back home I'll post some pictures of the QT and also of the 6 gallon tank that I have some LR, LS and a small CUC in. I want to do something with the 6 gallon just not sure what yet.
I also received the AC70 and will be following the mod to it to set it up as a refugium and hook it up to the 28 gal tank. The LFS has some chaeto in so I'll be good to go. I'm still waiting for them to get the Bicolor Blenny in but they haven't yet. They did have a cute Scooter Blenny though.

Here's the photo's I promised to post.

QT Tank & by using some of my DT water, I noticed there are a couple of tiny tiny snails in there too.

This is the 6 gallon with some snails and hermits in it with LR & LS.

And just for the heck of it, this is how the day started in my neighborhood!!
