Aquaclear 201 Damaged?

Hi,
Recently my Aquaclear 201 Power Head started spitting one or two C-Clip shaped pieces of shiny metal every time i turn it back on after turning off. Other than this it still seems to work fine, good water flow, etc... I'm sure it's not healthy to have metal pieces about the size of fish food floating around in the aquarium, so I think I'll replace it anyway. I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this. This PowerHead was given to me, so who knows how much use it had when i got it. It did fall into the sand once while running soon before this started happening.
My LFS has the new JBJ(I believe) Dual Output Power Heads(SP-1300) at $9.99 for the 240gph model, so i'll probably grab one of them next time i'm there. Attached is a pic of the next model up, the SP-1800.
Visit http://jbjlighting.com/powerheads.html for information on flow rates.
Thanks,

entice59,
From what i've heard on this board, a 10x turnover rate seems to be a good start. This means that if you have a 15 gallon, all of the water should be circulated atleast 10 times per hour. According to this, 150gph of water flow should be your minimum.

entice59,
By minimum I meant atleast 150gph of water flow, so anything more(within reason) would be ok. But I must warn you, I just picked up the middle model(290gph) today for $11.99, and it was overkill in my 20 gallon. It constantly caused the sand to stir in about 5 different areas, and slowly clouded my water(due to my lack of rinsing my sand). Luckily my friend who bought my old 50 gallon had a use for it, so rather than return it to the store I sold it to him. I will be picking up the 240gph model tomorrow, to see if it's a little more tame.
This says something very positive about the JBJ powerheads though. They are extremely powerful, and IMO underrated in water flow. The 290gph model felt like the water jets in my spa, when i put my hand in front of it.
Thanks,
