aquaclear filter question

i am running a aqua clear hob filter on my 55g....in the directions it says the stack the media in the following order:
bottom:sponge
middle:carbon
top:ceramic rings
i was just wondering if it would make more sense to have the carbon on the bottom and the sponge more near the top of the filter?

i had one and no follow that order.. you want the water to run through the carbon not soak in itor it wouldnt be as effective

You want the foam on the bottom to trap particles before they can get into the carbon and whatever else you may have in there.

oh alright so then should i put hte carbon on teh top do you think? and the ceramic rings in the middle?

how often do you guys clean your sponge?

I have one aqua clear filter running in freshwater tank and I clean it anywhere from 1 week to a month depending on how dirty it is.

I have one on my 35 gallon and I change it every two to four weeks. If you start to notice it turning brown then change it.
