ok, so i have been thinking about getting an aquapod 24 for my bedroom with the 150w sunpod metal halide fixture. i have read to get more flow, people upgrade the pump to a MJ 1200. So my question is do i need any other filtration besides the built in sump? thanks in advance

no but most people modify the back filter sections by removing spunge (replace with some filter floss), bioballs/ceramic rings and replacing with live rock rubble. some people also block the lower vents on the intake section also for better surface skimming. Obviously live rock and sand in tank are used as filtration also. The above modifications dont have to be performed but most people do them to lighten maintenance of having to clean sponge etc... those and regular water changes should be all thats needed. Sometimes i run chemi-pure or purigen also

alright, thanks, yeah, i have read alot that people switch the bioballs and all that, but thanks for telling me to remove the sponge and put filter floss in and about blocking the second entrance.
how do you block it?
PS, yeah, i am going to have live sand and live rock.

There are a few ways to block it... I picked up an 8x10 piece of plexi from Lowes for $1 and cut it to fit, then piled up LR rubble behind it to keep it pressed against the vents. Piece of cake.
