I had nano skimmers in both of mine and got rid of them....water quality was better afterwards....I think the crap in the skimmers would grow anaerobes and then spill small quantities into the tank

I recently got the Oceanic nano skimmer and it's been up and running in my second chamber since Sunday. It seems ok...but then again, I do wish the company would come up with something better than that crappy fission one they recommend!!

Me too....I just had to lower the water level a bit. Took out the sponges and am only running carbon and some other packet I can't remember the name of. As long as the water level doesn't go higher than the bottom of the cup. I ran it Sun-Wed and emptied it last night. Some fluid, little greenish, nothing bad really. I would love it if I felt more secure about the Sapphire which is made for us hood-bound folk, but had a bad 1st experience with one in Feb and a worse experience returning it....so I'm a bit gun shy.
