Aquaripure denitrator

Dear all, may i know if the sulphur in my DIY denitrator is supposed to turn black (*well... actually someone from the LFS said it would) and mine only has a tiny little bit of black on the bottom areas even after locking the water in for 2 mths!
Any ways to hasten it so that I can put it to good use?
(*someone also suggested wrapping or putting the chamber in a very dark area to possbily hasten the process)

I know this is an old post that goes back to 7/2006 but I just had to update this. The German DeNitrator is actually the same as the MidWest Aquatics one. Go the both websites and take a look. They are identical. All German products are not infinitely more superior to American made but some are. in this case they are not since they are the same.
By the way the DeNitrator does work. I have the Midwest Aquatics one and in a bit over a month I went from 80ppm to 0ppm. I highly recommend them.
