been a week or 2 with th edenitrator. no change in nitrates yet but a wierd thing happend. my algae is virtually gone and coraline started growing everywhere. is this usual??? i gotto say injecting vodka into the thing is pretty cool. one shot for me,, one shot for me fisheys. i give em grey gooose too, not that bottom shelf crap. my fish r living large.

My guess is that the bacteria feeding on the Vodka are also consuming Phosphate. This would make growing impossible for Filament algae but easier for Calcareous algae.

yeah the water looks real nice right now. im impressed already. i tested the nitrates coming out of the unit and they are off the scale (200+), but my tank has not risen. i was concerned about this but the company guy said this was normal part of the cycling of the unit and would drop over the next 4 weeks or so. so i guess ill post my results when i see them.

note to self....I need to get one of these! Get drunk and help your fish at the same time! The best idea ever!

I got a Midwest Aquatic DeNitrifier and after I set it up 2 weeks later my nitrates started to go down from 80ppm. After the 5th week they were down to less then 5ppm. Mine is the sulfur denitrifier.
