What do you guys think about the octopus 3000 controller. There is one being sold on my local reef site and I think I'm going to buy it but I want some other opinions... Thanks in advance!!

Evidently they are really high end, I don't know alot about it yet......but I'm getting one in a couple weeks. I have a friend that has a ton of stuff from breaking down a 1000g tank and is giving it to me for cheap.
From what he said they are amazing, you can control any and everything, dose multiple tanks in other rooms, even lock and unlock doors.
I'm not sure on the model number on his though, anyway gonna suscribe to this and find out some more before I get mine too.

Oh and he also said you can have it send you text messages and emails if anything out of the normal happens to the tank.

I heard about this as well. Really the only thing I wanted from a controller is a ph and temp monitor/controller but I'm getting this one for a better price than the reefkeeper lite with those 2. I'm getting it brand new too :)

Sweet
And you can control all the lights and stuff and wavemakers which should clear up some space with those big timers. Let me know how you like it.

Well I picked it up and plugged it in with all the probes in water but I haven't tried to program anything yet. I'll give it a couple days before I mess with those.

haha... I haven't set anything yet because I don't have calibration fluids. Sorry guys. It is on tomorrow's agenda, today is pretty busy.

This thing is only a monitor without the x10 modules to plug your equipment into. I wish I would have bought an RKL with a dc8

I'd have no problem with X10 for stuff like powerheads, but I wouldn't trust it on my lights, heaters, pumps, etc. Too unreliable, so you aren't missing much IMO.
Aquadyne does make a hardwired interface board to use with it instead of X10, but it's $1500.
