One of the real contradictions in this hobby is exactly what you are concerned about. We circulate the water to (among other things) increase the gass exchange and then put a lid on the tank to prevent evaporation. This in turn cuts down the gass exchange. In my fresh water 10g planted I have no circulation open top and lotsa plants. In my 20g macroalgae I have no circulation but in my 55g display with a filter I do have a top. the total evaporation of all three tanks is less than one gallon per week.
With a gallon and a half per day evaporation you must have a 1) much larger tank, 2) lots and lotsa circulation (and salt creep), 3) A much higher temperature than I am running (currently 82 or so). I am not advocating elimination of all your circulation, but there may be some middle ground where you could reduce the circulation, remove the lid, and have less evaporation with the same gass exchange. Hopefully you have a hood to prevent fish from jumping out of the tank. If not you could use some plastic window screen on the top. that would stop the fish jumping and allow gass exchange.
