Aquascaping 90gal

I am having a hell of a time trying to aquascape my liverock in my 90gal.
I have been checking out other reef tanks and it looks like the lr starts low in the front then rises towards the back. Should you have the rocks in the back touching the back glass panel? My rocks seem to be to big(
) and if I don't touch the back glass with them it makes it look like a rock wall instead of a gradule incline upwards.
Is it a big no, no to touch the back glass with you lr?

I am having the same struggle with my 92 gallon. I am planning on re-doing it today. I recently read in one of Julian Sprungs books that the rock should not touch the glass and some open area should be left open for the fish to swim back there. Someone, I don't remember who, also said the large rocks should always be on the bottom. I am having a hard time finding places to place my corals.

the lowest lr should be 2-3 inches away from the backwall. as u stack them higher, u can hv the lr get closer to the backwall. as far as i know, thats how everyone does it. all the lfs i go to hv a similar setup. will try to post pics of mine later.

You can't tell from the picture, but I have it to where only two pieces of lr are touching the back glass. I want to put one more layer on, and the top layer will have the majority of rock leaning on the glass.

How many pounds of rock is in your 92 gallon corner? Also, what kind and how much lighting do you use?

I went through the same thing. When I 1st put the live rock in, it was perfect and only took a few minutes. But about a week later I needed to add about 10 more pounds and when I did, it was a disaster! I couldnt get anything to look right, messed with it for hours and hours and got all mad and frustrated, It seemed impossible. Well, I just put it all in the tank and walked away until the next day. The next day, after fooling around for 15 minutes, it looked great!
So I suggest to just walk away and leave it for a day and come back for a fresh start!

I have about 120+ LBS of LR. Lights are 250W MH and 350 VHO. I would stack the rocks up towards the overflow and leave some more voids in the middle and also more room against the front glass. I am stuffed becasue everything grew so big and I need to weed it out. I need more room towards the front.

Are these 36" VHO? I have 3 36" VHO .............. I am pretty sure they are 90W each. Where did you find ones with higher wattage?
