Are Barnacles Normal On Live Rock

I love barnacles. Cool critters. Don't see them often though. I am not sure how they fair in our tanks. Can't quite see the seaweed you have though. Since this rock came from the auction site I wonder, because I am always leary of the auction site, if the guy just went out to the ocean and is grabbing rock as needed..........

YA im sure it came out of the ocean... you cant do that in tanks... that def from ocean... And CL is better than the bay..

So If Its From The Ocean Is It Ok Im My Tank Everything Seems To Be Doing Ok It Is A New Tank Though Only 1 Month 2 Weeks Still Showing High Nitrites And No Nitrate Spike As Of Yet

do u plan to use this as base rock?
i ask becuase if you bury part of it the barnicles(filter feeders) will surely die.
Its also of note that this thing is COVERED in them, so this means one of two things either these barnicles freakin thrived in his tank which could pose a problem if they do the same in yours, or this came from somewhere in the wild that could be not so much clean.
btw IME barnicles die in captivity.

YA i would hmm... look on CL find some cheap rock and buy that instead.. i would either put this in a QT tank till the barnacles die or freshwater dip it to make it baserock... But either way you should have looked at it before you bought.. how much did u pay if you dont mind me asking
