I did the switch about a week ago and ive got a diatom bloom on my new sand. At least i think thats what it is (a light green film thats covering my sand and it has some small bubble on it as well). I kept about ten pound of the CC in my sump to prevent a cycle i thought this would have stoped the Diatoms as well. what do you guys think it is?

If it is green in color it is algae, if brown it is diatoms.
Either is quite common after setting up a new substrate, even if you seeded it with a bag of the removed CC (via your sump).
But if it is green, it is definately NOT diatoms.
Patience, patience........ ;)

May be either a minor diatom or algae bloom......fairly common when adjust the substrate.........should balance out fairly quickly........I wouldn't worry about it much if the system is stable and the clean-up crew is sufficient........
