Could u guys tell me whats going on with my anemone i did my home work on the thing before i bought it... but i cant find anything on why it does this....

why does it do this, its been doing this since i bought it. and made sure that it wasn't sick because it opens then does that then open then closes.... and my clownfish love the freaking thing but they thing keeps closing on them....
Welcome to the site.
I'd say your anemone looks quite unhappy with it's environment. Without a good understanding of what's going on with all of the variables that can be contributed to a mini eco system it's going to be hard to guess which of however meany reasons there are why this could be. Taking a generalized approach to the situation at hand I am going venture out on a limb here to say that you're system and it's user probably were not ready to keep this creature. But I mean that in a non-judge mental kinda way because we've all learned things the hard way before and continue to do so, so please don't take that the wrong way. But it's probably poor acclimation all the way around. It could be attributed to the lighting, water chemistry, temperature consistency, water flow...etc.

Hi FlyFishGirl. I have to agree with both Bang Guy and 2Quills--the little guy looks way unhappy.
It would be extremely helpful for us that try to give advice if you could be more forthcoming about your current tank parameters and set-up. I didn't even see what type of anemone you have gotten--I am guessing its a bubble tip anemone but not really sure from the picture. I think the odds of this guy making it are low, but to give him the best chance, we need to know a lot more information before giving advice.
Include: Type of anemone and how you acclimated him. Details on behavior like has he stayed in the same spot or moved around, does he go through cycles of inflation and deflation, has he expelled any zooxanthellae (brown stringy stuff from his mouth)? Have you tried to feed him and if so will he grab the food or does it fall off? Do the tentacles feel sticky? Have you tried to keep your clownfish away from
the anemone as they can harass the anemone to death while he's trying to get used to his new tank.
Also include a full set of tank/water parameters including:
-temperature,
-what type of water movement you have,
-have you added anything to the tank such as chemicals to get rid of parasites,
-type of salt used and any maintenance additives you use
-have you/can you test for Ammonia/Nitrate/Nitrite, KH/hardness/, pH (take both day and night readings), Calcium, Phosphates etc
-do you have a protein skimmer and if so what kind is it
-how long are your lights on
-Specific gravity
Without knowing these parameters it is impossible to give you meaningful advice. What if your pH is way high or low, or the Specific gravity is off, or the Nitrates are 200 etc... All of these things can be deal killers under the best of circumstances. I would love to help you but I feel helpless without more information. Please help us to help you by giving us the information we need to educate you and hopefully save this anemone!

have i added anything in my tank- Yes i have to help with relef stress and also lower any nitrate and anything in there to help save money (because i get my water from my LFS (Local fish store)
salt- I have no idea.... Like i said my LFS does that all
tested- i test eveytime i go into my lfs and eveything is low (and they say its perfectly fine to add stuff)

Do i have P.S- Yes i have an oceanic biocube PS but i can't get it to work.....
