Yes, water changes are very beneficial for many reasons. Water changes are one of the best ways to export nutrients (removal of organic substances such as nitrate and phosphates). It also aids your tanks buffering capacity and adds trace minerals/elements. I don’t think huge water changes are necessary, I think smaller 10% every other week is sufficient.

i agree 100%. Your fish and corals are using up the minerals/elements in the water as time passes... if you don't replace them, it's a bad environment.

It's like the air in LA. People can live when there's a temperature inversion and the air isn't being replaced. It's uncomfortable but they can live.
It's a LOT more comfortable when the air is being replaced by fresh air off the coast though....
Not necessary but highly desireable.

If you dont plan on doing water changes i would nt even get into the hobby , Water changes help replace nutrients , that are taken from corals fish and anemones and also skimming , without water changes you are going to have high ates and phos levels and the qaulity of living for you fish is going to be horrible and affect there mood , i do a 20 percent water change every week , (because i changed my CC and im trying to get rid of ates , i will be doing a 10 percent change weekly when they go down
