Are wild salmon eggs ok to feed to my tank?

I caught a bunch of salmon yesterday and left a good 10oz of eggs in the river. I wouldn't mind keeping them from now on if they can be used to feed my tank. Is it possible? do I have to do any kind of special prepping? can they be frozen and used for special treats later on?

i grew up on lake erie salmon fishing there is nothing better than smoked salmon.

Was it Coral Keeper that feeds his fish salmon egg? Not sure but in the 40 year old reef thread someone was talking about this if I remember right.

Yes assuming you have large enough fish. They are also very oily, so you want to be sure your skimmer and such are working efficiently. But there is no reason, IMO, not to do it. Not sure about freezing but wouldn't hurt to try it I would think.

Yes it was CK that keeps salmon roe for his fish. I asked him about it last week. He said his fish go nuts over it. Store them in small ice cube trays with a "little" water from your tank then freeze them. Unthaw them when ready to use "do not chip away at the cube as it may cause the eggs to break" This statement is from CK so dont quote me on it. But it is somthing that I am going to try for my fish too!

Awesome! Ill have them in the freezer for treats every now and then. I would imagine the high protein would be very beneficial to fish and inverts. im sure they are loaded with tons of other nutrients as well.
