Are yellow tangs supposed to be mean?

They have some attitude, but I would not characterize them as mean. Maybe yours had a troubled childhood???

Well here's the thing. If your tang is that much of a problem ur tank is too small and or does not have compatible fish buddies. Tangs are territorial, not mean. There's a difference. You may just have a mroe territorial tang than other's, but i think the answer is above.

Yellow tangs have attititudes, like the purple and powder blue. Move the rocks around so the territory is different.
